Self Operated Shoulder Rehabilitation Device
This device allow a person with hemiplegia to self-rehabilitate the weak arm by using forces and motion from the normal arm. A cable and pulley system is utilized to transfer forces and motion from one arm to another. The device is simple and low cost, hence it shall create more opportunities for people with hemiplegia to access rehabilitation program. Currently, the third generation prototype is under development to reduce weight and add the elbow joints.

Artificial Intelligent Autonomous Vehicle for the Blinds
The vehicle was built by combining the front part of a front wheel drive  electric kick scooter to a custom made two-rear-wheel platform into a standing 3 wheel scooter. Steering system can be controlled manually or by autonomous system  via a servo motor and a solinoid clutch. The autonomous system utilizes a 3D camera and multiple sensors act as eyes to provide  information to A.I. processing unit running with ROS on Intel NUC. After scanning the area, an optimum path to the selected destination was generated and used to control both driving and steering system. With a built-in object detection system, the vehicle can avoid obstacle along the course.

Manual Wheelchair with Egg-shaped Driving Mechanism to Reduce Fatigue
Traditional manual wheelchairs are driven by hand pushing to turn the wheel rims which is not ergonomics. This leads to muscle fatigue and injury of shoulders and wrists. There are multiple research results propose that an egg shape path is the most ergonomic way of hand driving. Thus, we developed a novel driving method based on a four-bar linkage mechanism to allow an egg-shape hand driving path, which lends best efficiency. Users require less effort and the arm movement is most ergonomic. This helps reduced muscle fatigue and reduced risks of injury. EMG readings from user tests confirm that the new wheelchair significantly reduce the load on  shoulder muscles..
